About Teaching Notes

Teaching Notes are suggestions about how material might be presented to students.
Topics range from abstract learning principles (Separation of tasks) to highlighting problems caused by common techniques (No FOIL) to effective formulations of mathematical structure Products of Sums. They generally share the following features:

  • A very long view of education, so things that become problematic in later work are not acceptable no matter how effective they may be at a particular moment. This requirement is necessary given the project focus on eventual preparation for high-level technical careers.
  • They address methods, approaches, etc. that are currently problematic in some way.
